Epigenome

The word Epigenome describes the chemical compounds that modify, or mark, the genome in a way that tells it what to do, where to do it, and when to do it. If you think think of the genome as being like a computer, the hardware of a computer, the epigenome would be like the software that tells the computer when to work, how to work, and how much.

"Where genes load the gun, the environment pulls the trigger."

The work “Epigenomes” further explores the realm of chance happenings. In the cosmos of conception, can the many spermatozoids released, significantly change the next generation of our kin? As the idea of epigenome acts like I want the artwork to refer the natural chemical modifications that occur in a person's genome shortly after conception that act on a gene like a gas pedal or a brake, marking it for higher or lower activity. In creating “Epigenomes” after this genetic activity, I explore the genetic and biological implications of pills and conception on our DNA. I’m fascinated by the murky world of molecular biology, neuroscience and behavioral genetics.
